I tend to have a sort of sixth sense that shouts when I stumble across good quality software, tools, frameworks or services! It’s a feeling of excitement, mixed in with a feeling of why didn’t I think of that! Followed by a feeling of contentment that I can use it in projects!
Once I discover a new passion then it takes over my life until the next new gem comes a long to knock it off first place. For a long time now I have used UIKit as my framework for creating UI’s.
I liked its small size and the look and feel of the elements, but it wasn’t perfect! There always appeared to be a need for a bit extra CSS.
Over the last few months I kept seeing projects or articles that mentioned Tailwind CSS. So I decided to take a look! I have been using Tailwind CSS version 1 on in-house projects and I have to say I am very impressed!
But Tailwind CSS version 2 was released on the 18th November 2020, and it looks very impressive. The following is a list of some of the highlights to be found in this new release;
- Dark Mode
- Focussed Ring Utilities
- Extra Wide 2XL Breakpoint
- New Colour Palette
The creators of Tailwind CSS also created a paid for service called Tailwind UI which provides a library of UI components built using Tailwind CSS and now updated for version 2.0.
